Protonify was not founded to enter a new industry. It was founded because a body of purification chemistry that had been developed for something else turned out to answer a question the cannabis industry had just started asking.

Botanical purification
Western Red Cedar oil. The work-up and purification chemistry needed to take a botanical feedstock and yield a high-purity target molecule — the same problem, a different plant.

Protonify founded
The Cannabis Act arrives, and the chemistry proves directly applicable to cannabinoid acids. The company is built around a process that already worked.
- 2021
Licensed processor
Health Canada processing and sales licence granted. Commercial production begins under a documented quality system rather than one assembled afterwards.

Continuous supply
Material released to licensed producers on a continuing basis, every lot tested by an independent laboratory and issued with a Certificate of Analysis.
Why the lineage matters commercially
Purification is not a step you add to a process. It is the constraint the whole process is designed around, and getting it right takes longer than a market cycle. The chemistry that produces material specified per grade, lot after lot, is not something that can be stood up quickly in response to demand — which is the honest reason a supplier either has it or doesn't.
It is also why our range is broad rather than narrow. A process built to recover every stream produces several salable materials from one input, and that only makes sense if the purification underneath it is reliable enough to specify each one.
